Eternal Sunday presents a new album from Canal Pop,Superficial. The album contains 11 tracks of the artist’s signature catchy synthpop. The album features three great guest singers, Polette, Josefina Aufranc and Pauline Q.
One of the songs "The Starman Won’t Come Tonight" is a tribute to David Bowie, written after his death in 2016.
Eternal Sunday presents an amazing progressive house remix of Canal Pop featuring Polette’s cover of Mike Oldfield “Moonlight Shadow” by DJ and remixer German Kreff.
Eternal Sunday proudly presents Not Mister Right: An Introduction To Canal Pop, an album that compiles some of the best songs recorded by Canal Pop, the synthpop music project led by songwriter and producer Emiliano Canal (who also happens to be the label’s director), from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
“I spent these last years devoted full time to the record label” Emiliano explains “so my artistic project Canal Pop
was not my priority, when I had some free time I recorded some songs
and released them but without the time or energy to come up with a
proper campaign. And it was a shame, because some of the songs that Canal Pop released were good and deserved better luck with the public”.
This doesn’t mean that Canal Pop’s songs went unnoticed these years. Canal Pop is well known in the synthpop/ electropop global underground scene and specialized portals like Side Line (Belgium) and others write about him on a regular basics. Songs and remixed by Canal Pop have been released in compilations by labels and pages like Side Line and Alfa Matrix (Belgium), Sector44 (USA), Ninthwave (USA) and Electrozombies (Germany) (as well as by Eternal Sunday, Emiliano’s label).
Not Mister Right: An Introduction To Canal Pop features 13 original tracks, and all of the songs are a proper sample of Canal Pop’s
style: classic electropop arrangements and production, catchy
radio-friendly choruses, crystal-clear voiced professionally produced
and plays of words in the lyrics (in English, which is not bad considering that Emiliano is from Buenos Aires, Argentina, where people speak Spanish). The lyrics are about falling
in love, being yourself, infatuation, electricity, being cool in Japan,
dancing alone, girls who want to learn new things and girls that really enjoy phone calls.
Several amazing singers collaborated with Canal Pop over the years and all of them are present here: Gaby Laguzzi, New York City’s Bea Conenna, Polette (who shared stages with the likes of Deep Purple and Shakira), Josefina Aufranc and recently with teen singer and TV actress Pauli Cugnata. “All of them are amazing professional singers with thousands of hours of live and studio work” says Emiliano, “I’m very proud of the girls I work with. Besides, they’re all very pretty”.
All the songs were produced by Emiliano Canal except for the opening track “I Want You (To Be My Baby)”, which was produced by producer Osi Tejerina (who also directs a record label in Buenos Aires). 9 of the songs are featured in 2019 versions, with an improved sound. “Future Nights” was commercially unreleased (only as part of a free compilation).
“A new Canal Pop period is beginning”, says Emiliano. “New songs, new singers, bigger and better plans”. In the meantime, the world can listen to Not Mister Right: An Introduction To Canal Pop to catch the mood.
Eternal Sunday releases a new version of the 1983 Mike Oldfield hit “Moonlight Shadow” by Canal Pop feat. Polette. The song has already been released in 2012 as the b-side of the single “Electricity”,
but the artist was not happy with that version.
“The version released
in 2012 was not finished, we were working on it and a hard disk crashed
so I had to use the only mix I had”, says Emiliano Canal,
AKA Canal Pop. “Luckily enough, we were able to recover the original
files and make a new version, the way I originally wanted it so sound”.
As usual, the song features the whole Canal Pop production package: carefully produced amazing female vocals and a synth-lead infectious rhythm that makes people want to dance.
Eternal Sunday presents Canal Pop feat. Polette – I Want You (To Be My Baby) (German Kreff Dub). The single features a killer remix of the Canal Pop feat. Polette catchy song “I Want You (To Be My Baby)” made by electronic music producer and remixer German Kreff.
Eternal Sunday presents the third version of the Electric Future Beatscompilation, the one that was awarded with the Gardel award in 2012 (the Argentinean equivalent of the Grammy) as the best electronic music album.
In this occasion the compilation combines tracks that have been
released as singles or as part of EPs during the year plus three
unreleased tracks, by Alberto Perrone, KooLTURE remixed by German Kreff and X-Tralounge.
As usual the Electric Future Beats compilation feature a sample of the best underground electronic music from Argentina for the world to listen. Canal Pop is present with the song "I Want You (To Be My Baby)" (featuring Polette).
Eternal Sunday present’s the new Canal Pop release,I Want You (To Be My Baby). “I Want You (To Be My Baby)” is the new song by Canal Pop feat. Polette, the first one after the release of the 2012 EPHigh Class Girls & Lo Fi Boys. Unlike past material it was produced by Osi Tejerina (gold-record producer from Argentina) and it features the classic Canal Pop radio friendly electropop sound combined with more edgy electronic bits and effects. As usual, the track is very catchy and radio friendly, the vocals are carefully arranged and the lyrics are clever.
The single features a B-side, “Your Daughter’s On The Phone”.
The song “Things You Say You Like” by Canal Pop feat. Polette was included in the Eternal Sunday compilation Buenos Aires Glamour Beats 2013. The song had been included in the Alfa Matrix (Belgium) 4CD’s best-of-electro compilation Absolute Grrrls Manifesto but it was not for sale digitally.
Bueenos Aires Glamour Beats 2013 is an
electronic music compilation that features some of the best tracks
released by the label Eternal Sunday during 2013. The album contains 12
tracks by artists and producers like Dsynchronize feat. Evi Adam,
KooLTURE, Fr3ak Y Los Ali3nados, Lea Rognoni, German Kreff feat.
Arabescos, and others.

ES 2234 Canal Pop – High Class Girls & Lo Fi Boys EP
Catchy electropop with ironic lyrics and carefully crafted vocal arrangements. That is, more or less, the definition of Canal Pop's music given by Emiliano Canal, the man behind the project. And the 4-tracks EP High Class Girls & Lo Fi Boys is the proof that the definition still applies.
"Contrary to what people may think, catchy pop music is very difficult to make, because you have to combine a few very effective elements in a very little time, and everything has to fit perfectly. Anyone can make an experimental 15 minutes ode full of chords and strange noises, the difficult think is to make people dance in 3 minutes", says Emiliano about his songs. Maybe he knows what he talks about, since he's the owner/ director of Eternal Sunday, a label specialized in releasing Argentinean artists who sing in English, and that job forces him to listen dozens of new bands and songs every week.
"I love to own a label but the cons are that it takes time away from my own musical projects like Canal Pop. The label forces you to think and work in a different way, especially about marketing and airplay, and it becomes difficult to sit at the studio to mix a song or to simply try new music ideas at the keyboard. It's like owning a football team and wanting to go to kick a corner shot at the same time, it is not very practical." Maybe because of this High Class Girls & Lo Fi Boys is a 4-tracks EP. "To record and finish a complete album was taking too much time for me, and it's not that important nowadays since people consumes music in a different way. I think it's better to have an EP with four solid songs and not a 15-tracks album with ten fillers".
After a first listen, the four songs in High Class Girls & Lo Fi Boys seem to be solid enough. "Two Of A Kind" opens, a story with a somehow erotic innuendo and sexy plays of words ("we're two of a kind, 'cause you've got a sexy body and I have a dirty mind")."A Place" follows, based on a true story, a song that describes a confused girl who doesn't know if she likes girls or boys. "I went out with some friends and a pretty girl came to say hi and when asked how was everything she said not very good, because I don't know if I like girls or boys", Emiliano remembers. This song has a lot of fans, and I suppose it is because it's about being young, not knowing what you want, being afraid of showing yourself the way you are, wanting to go far away, and all the issues of sexual ambiguity, of not matching a certain social ideal. The third song is "Electricity", a song that was chosen in 2011 (among thousands) to be part of the Face The Beat compilation, released by the portal/ magazine Side Line, from Belgium, property of the owners of Alfa Matrix, the most important electro/ industrial/ EBM label in the world. "All the classic electropop band have a song called 'Electricity' and I didn't want to be exception", explains Emiliano. "Of course I tried to give it a sexier connotation ('plug your love into me') because I like to make those plays of words. I think it worked, because the people from Side Line liked it and they have more than a thousand tracks to choose from for their compilation". The EP closes with "For Falling (In Love)", a song that Canal Pop recorded a few times before but was never released. "The chorus simply came to my head. I was in my apartment and heard on my head the 'Oh eh oh, this is a night for falling in love'. I sat at the keyboard and noticed that the musical phrase had a 2/4 bar that complicated everything, but the melody was so catchy that I wrote the rest of the song. I needed to record several versions to be satisfied, when you have a very catchy idea everything you add on top of it tends to interfere".
As Canal Pop, Emiliano Canal works alone ("I deal with enough musicians as a label owner"), so all the keyboards, the production and the arrangements are his. The exception are the voices, Canal Pop has collaborated with very interesting female singers like Gaby Laguzzi (We Never Play Live In Buenos Aires,2007), Bea Conenna, born in New York (Ecstatic Days single, 2008), sexy Lara Sambert who later appeared on prime time Argentinean TV show Cantando Por Un Sueño, the equivalent of Singing With The Stars, and who toured Greek and Turkey) (An Electro Tribute To Oasis, 2010) and this time Paula Varela AKA Polette, one of Buenos Aires' top singers and sessionist who shared stages with Shakira, Deep Purple and countless other local stars. "Polette is, by far, the best singer I worked with. It is not only about singing nice, but about understanding what the producer and the song need, and Polette has an unique quality, she sings my songs in a nasal, Kylie Minogue way, after that she goes to a jazz club to sing jazz or funk like a diva and then she records a jingle for a canned soup, and she does everything right. That's why everyone calls her, it is an honor to work with her". As in every Canal Pop release, the vocal arrangements are very precise and elaborated, with crystal clear backing vocals coming and going, with little delays and echoes here and there (only noticed with headphones and the traditional robot-like vocoder and lo fi vocals. Canal Pop is back.

Abre "Two Of A Kind", una historia con insinuaciones eróticas y juegos de palabras sexys ("we're two of a kind, 'cause you've got a sexy body and I have a dirty mind"/ somos tal para cual, porque tenés un cuerpo sexy y yo tengo una mente sucia).
